COMPREHENSIVE CONCEPT OF THE REVISED CONSTITUTION OF GEORGIA

The Public Constitutional Commission was established on May 1, 2009. The Commission carries its work independently, pro bono and without any financing.

Public Constitutional Commission Members: Otar Benidze, Otar Gamkrelidze, Ekaterine Gasitashvili, Nino Gvenetadze, Giorgi Inauri, Valerian Loria, Lia Mukhashavria, Merab Turava, Mindia Ugrekhelidze, Zviad Koridze, Zakaria Kutsnashvili, Nina Tsikhistavi-Khutsishvili, Vakhtang Dzabiradze, Vakhtang Khmaladze, Geogre Khutsishvili, Zaur Jinjolava, Zurab Jibgashvili.

The Public Constitutional Commission, during its three years of existence, has operated completely independently, only on a public basis, without any funding. In addition to the regular weekly meetings of its members (17 Members), the Commission held dozens of meetings with stakeholders and experts in the field, students, media representatives, prepared and published a comparative analysis of constitutional models, critically evaluated the existing constitution, drafted constitutional amendments.

Presented the draft concept of the new constitution, through public hearings and perfection will become the basis for public consent and the building of a Georgian democratic state.
