Assesment of Interethnic and Interreligious Relations in Georgia by the Population Living in Regions.
The Results of Socialogical Study.
This study was conducted in the frame of the ICCN Program “Strengthening of Civil Society and Integration of Minorities” supported by EED by the sub-program on Gender and Minorities. The purpose of the study was to examine the current situation in the regions of Georgia concerning interethic and interreligious relations based on the population’s assesments. 1100 respondents were surveyd in 5 regions of Georgia - regional centers and surrounding villages: Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki, Khashuri, Marneuli, Bolnisi. The survey took place in July 2009. The study was done jointly by ICCN staff members Giorgi Nizharadze and Nana Berekashvili and external reserchers. On different stages of the research process experts - psychologists, Luiza Arutinova and her team of intervewers (the organisation of the survey) and Elene Chomakhidze (analysis) were involved. The final text was prepared by Elene Cholmakhidze.
Conclusions of the results are available in English and Russian.
